The Next Step: a Consultation:
From there, we’ll open a client portal for you, so that you can get us relevant paperwork BEFORE we have our consultation. That way, we’ll have the information we need to understand your circumstances, your goals, and how we can help you. This pre-consultation information gathering means that we will be able to give you realistic advice about your actual case – not just a general overview that most lawyers offer as a free consultation. The consultation is YOUR time, so the better prepared you are, the more we can help you.
Please note: the consultation always remains confidential, even if you do not retain us. If any opposing party contacts us about working for them, they will be informed that we cannot provide services to them.
Using the information that you give to us, we’ll perform an initial analysis, and inform you of the legal steps you’ll need to take to achieve your goal. If your case is a contested case, we will walk you through the strengths and weaknesses of your case so that you have a realistic idea of the possible outcomes. We’ll also discuss case strategy, and timing.
What we gain from the initial consultation is an understanding of what your goals are in your case, and why it is important. Once we understand where you’re coming from, we will educate you on how to achieve your goals within the parameters of the legal system. A huge part of the value of our consultations is the education that we will give you regarding the law as it applies to your case.
